INNOVATION STUDIO (ISTUDIO)

Located in the heart of our campus is a 1334 square foot Innovation Studio where students are allowed to explore, create, design and innovate.

The purpose of the Design Studio is to allow students to work collaboratively on projects, design solutions, or to take one team's design to the next level of innovation. This is the largest room on campus and is split into group collaboration spaces, as well as hands-on work space. Our Design Studio was inspired by the Innovation Lab at the Nueva School in Hillsborough, Ca and the space has been designed based on the book: Make Space (click to learn more).

In addition, the Design Studio operates within the spirit of the "Maker" movement and Maker Faires. To learn more about the Maker Movement, please visit this web-site: MAKE Magazine .

WHAT

  • The iStudio is a place where VIDA students can bring their creations to life.
  • The iStudio is stocked with supplies that can, with a little imagination, be transformed into almost anything.
  • The iStudio is a flexible space, allowing students collaborate, tinker, and dream.
  • Students can design, build, test, and present in an atmosphere that sparks their creativity.

WHEN

  • Students will spend time each quarter in the iStudio during their Design Lab.
  • Students will also have opportunities to use the iStudio for design projects in their core classes.
  • Students will have access to the iStudio before and after school.

WHERE

  • VIDA's Room 301.

WHY

  • At Vida we believe our students need a space that is dedicated to unleashing creativity and bringing imagination to life. Students will be able to explore materials, design, discuss, engineer, build, test, and refine their ideas. In the iStudio, we build a bridge between reality and imagination.

HOW

  • The iStudio philosophy reflects a gradual transition from structured projects to design autonomy.
